Defense is key in a game where goals do not come so easily, and senior Sophia Poulin has been a stand out on defense for the field hockey team.
Poulin has been a force for the team, providing stout defending that has helped the team to a 7-3-1 record so far this season.
“Sophia has been so good for us back there [on defense],” coach Federico said. “She has been one of the top players for us all year.”
The team is giving up an average of 1.18 goals per game, which include five shut outs so far. The defense, led by Poulin, has made the Lancers successful, as they are tied for fourth in DI.
“Sophia has been very strong on defense,” senior Allison Whitehead said. “Our defense all year long has done a very good job of marking up their opponents. But Sophia is always playing with intensity and confidence.”
