Dear Juniors,
It seems unfathomable, yet somehow we have reached the milestone which so many of us have feared for so long. We have viewed junior year through the same lens our entire lives, and I believe this is what has caused us to see it with so much trepidation. However, as we begin to experience this time for ourselves, rather than through the experience of others, I hope we may also begin to realize just how exciting this year can be.
We had our time to explore and recognize the things that make being a student here at LHS so important. We found our place on sports teams, clubs, in classes, and through this I hope we have all learned a bit about ourselves as members of this school. Our involvement was in part inspired by the encouragement of those who we looked up to for so long, and it seems unimaginable to think that we are now the ones looked up to ourselves. With this, please know just how valuable our place within Lancer Nation is, and never, for one second, take for granted how important this time in our lives will be as well.
I am not blind to the fact that junior year will come with its fair share of struggles and adversities. We will be pushed to give more and work harder, and at times this may seem to be an impossible task. However, having seen what this class is already capable of, I am in no way hesitant to say that we will succeed in fulfilling the image of “upperclassmen”. Do your best to see past the fear of expectations as you experience junior year. Don’t restrict yourselves to a comfort zone which we may now be accustomed to. Take risks, test your limits, and above all, take a moment to see just how far you’ve come. I wish you all a time of seeing yourselves grow, and with this, I also wish you the best of luck as you do so.
Sincerely,
Maddy Walden
