For a while, it seemed so far away. We heard of cases from surrounding towns and worried about the future of Londonderry, we saw our friend’s relatives and our distant cousins get that devastating diagnosis, yet we still had that one, comforting thought in our heads.
Well, at least it isn’t happening to us!
But that just isn’t true. Now as we walk from class to class with our masks covering your nose, classmates are missing. They are miles away, in a house, on their computer, wanting to give anything to be back inside LHS.
Now, we notice more and more teachers absent from their classrooms, maybe Google Meet-ing into each period to see the faces of their students.
Our friends have COVID-19. Our teachers have COVID-19. People are being exposed to the virus every single day.
It IS happening to us.
We can’t wave a magic wand and make the COVID-19 disappear from our town, school, or even our state. Yet, every Lancer can do their part by wearing a mask and socially distancing. It’s easy to be complacent because it’s stuffy underneath your face covering and you wish you could hug your friends, but that doesn’t change the fact that a global pandemic is going on.
Lancers have done an outstanding job of being courteous to the new COVID-19 rules, and in order to keep Londonderry safe we must keep up the great work.
COVID-19 is here, and it is up to everyone to do their part.
