The LHS Dance Team and Student Council co-hosted the annual LHS Zumbathon on Thurs., Oct. 22, 2015. LHS students and faculty gathered in the cafeteria from 4:00-5:30pm for an intense workout led by a team of four Zumba instructors.
Dance team adviser Mrs. Wooding said she wishes more people had attended, but overall it was a successful event.
“We had a great variety of people,” Wooding said, “and it was still a great workout.”
Approximately 30 people attended, and altogether the event raised $140. Half of these funds with go to the dance team, and the other half will go to student council.
“It won’t be quite enough to get the sound system I was hoping to purchase, but everyone had a good time, and I’m confident we’ll raise the rest of the money we need at our next fundraiser,” Wooding said.
Students like junior Alli Martin attended the Zumbathon and spoke about how much fun it was.
“The instructors were very energetic and everyone seemed to have a good time,” Martin said.
According to Wooding this event opened up discussion about “potentially offering Zumba once a week here at LHS for teachers at the school.”
The next Zumbathon will take on Thursday, March 24th, 2016.
Mrs. Wooding would like to give a “special thanks” to Mario Tallo, Mary Sohm, Susan Wakelin, and Flora Sapsin for representing the LHS faculty at the event.
