No date for prom? Stay in the loop. Go with a group!

Save the heartache and stress of finding a date to prom. Go with a group instead of depending on one partner!

Prom is coming up soon and you currently do not have a date. Maybe you’ve been thinking about asking one particular person, but you realize; how embarrassing would it be if they said no?

There are plenty of disadvantages and things that can go wrong when you talk about going with a date to prom. We all know the horror stories: you find out that your date ditched you last minute. Maybe you plan on going with your partner, but you break up just before the special night. Or even worse, you just can’t find anyone to go with. If you’re in that boat, odds are your friends have dates and you’re stuck by yourself at prom. Not fun. Luckily, there is another option.

Make a plan with your friends and go as a group, there’s no way you aren’t going to have a good time! This skips the awkwardness of potentially going with someone you don’t really know, or your date bailing last minute. With a large group of friends, the risk of a flaky partner is eliminated. There will always be someone there for you.

When many people choose to go stag to prom and hang out in a group, it eases the pressure for someone else who is struggling. For someone who can’t find a date, or someone who can’t bring their significant other, knowing that it is not expected of them to go in a pair will make their lives a lot easier.

Save the heartache and stress of finding a date to prom. Go with a group instead of depending on one partner! There are only so many days to spend with your friends before you’re off to college. A magical night, like prom, should be filled with memories you can look back on forever. Your core group of friends will always be there for you.

Prom date or friends? Bring a date and don’t be late.

Art by Sathvik Manam

Don’t be the person alone at prom, bring a friend or someone who’s more than a friend and have the best night of your life.

You’re dancing with your friends at prom when a slow song comes on and all of your friends start dancing with their dates. After a quick scan of the dance floor, you see that everyone is pairing off, yet you are left standing alone. Shamefully, you walk back to the table, waiting for what feels like an eternity for the song to end.

Over the past years, an increasing number of people have been deciding to go to prom alone, but that choice still has its fair share of disadvantages. One of the major disadvantages of going to prom alone is that you have no one to dance with during slow songs. With a date there, you will always have someone to awkwardly dance with. There is no shame in dancing with a friend, at least you will feel a sense of normalcy while being surrounded by your peers with significant others, but having someone by your side all night at the ready can be a big relief.

A huge benefit to bringing a date to prom would be that you have someone to take prom pictures with. We all know the prom photo where everyone is with their date and then there’s the one person in the middle, alone. Who wants to be the person in the middle? Bringing a date can help you get adorable prom photos.

Now I’m not saying that you should bring someone that you’re not friends with, but anyone can find a friend who either doesn’t have a date to prom or is not a senior. Even if you bring a friend, you will still have someone to dance and take photos with.

Don’t be the person alone at prom, bring a friend or someone who’s more than a friend and have the best night of your life. You’ll dance the night away, end with great photos and make lasting memories to look back on forever.
