Jamila Saddiqi, Special Education teacher

This school year Londonderry High School welcomes a new staff member, Special Education teacher, Jamila Saddiqi.

Saddiqi got a job here at the high school because it seemed like a convenient drive from her house, but working with the kids here at LHS is an even more exciting factor.

“In the Special Education department I’m working with Freshman students and helping out with math, science and lit and comp,” Saddiqi said. . “I am most excited about getting to know my students and working with them.”

Saddiqi has a teaching background and has completed several part time teaching assignments. This is the first year Saddiqi will have a full time teaching assignment.

“When I came across this work opportunity I knew I wanted to try a full time teaching position instead of working part time, so I applied,” Saddiqi said..

Before starting her working career, Saddiqi attended Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and got her Masters degree in Science.

“After college I got a job as a substitute high school teacher, so I was only working part-time,” Saddiqi said.

Saddiqi is overall excited to get into this school year and make it a good one after the pandemic by getting to know her kids and helping them work hard.

“I am scared of Coronavirus flaring up again, but I’m excited to have a successful school year after our year with the pandemic last year,” Saddiqi said.

Saddiqi strives for a successful year with her students, and is full of determination which even helped her learn English as a second language.

“I am bilingual. English is my secondary language and Urdu is my first language. Unlike English, Urdu is read and written from right to left,” Saddiqi said.
