The varsity cheer team’s suspension has been extended until Oct. 9, announced School Board Chair Bob Slater at the Sept. 25 school board meeting.
Slater explained that their private investigator has conducted “24 interviews with 20 different individuals” since the program’s initial suspension on Sept. 8.
After conducting these interviews, the investigator decided that she “needed more time” to conduct further interviews, Slater said.
The junior varsity team has been reinstated and is allowed to practice and cheer at ongoing football games and events.
The board has extended the suspension of the varsity cheer program so the investigator has time to conduct 12 more interviews. On Oct. 9 “the allegations and evidence will be reviewed once again,” Slater said. The board will then come to a decision on what the varsity program’s future will look like for the rest of the season.
More updates to come as the investigation continues.
