The Blue Star Lancers need students and faculty members help in continuing their yearly tradition of sending package to servicemen and women who are currently serving in the Armed Forces.
Blue Star Lancers’ adviser Elizabeth Juster encourages students to support Blue Stars and our troops.
“The important part that we need to communicate is that the Blue Stars are looking for the APO address for any service member who is currently deployed AND has a family connection to someone here in Lancer Nation,” Juster said.
This is not the first time Blue Stars have communicated with deployed service members.
“In the past, we have sent care packages to LHS alumni, siblings of LHS students, and family members of LHS faculty/staff,” Juster said.
It is the Blue Star Lancers’ purpose to promote this, but they need your help to make this happen, so if you know a soldier, please pass along their name and address, so they can get a package from Lancer Nation.
Please contact Elizabeth Juster (room 219) or visit the BSL and PSL webpage.
The Blue and Purple Star Lancers thank you for your support.
Who are the Blue and Purple Star Lancers?
The mission of the Blue and Purple Star Lancers is “connect & support.”
Purple Star Lancers are students with a parent or stepparent actively serving in the military (National Guard, Reserves or active duty). As Purple Stars, they have the opportunity to connect with and support each other through regular Purple Star after-school drop-in gatherings.
Blue Star Lancers are students dedicated to supporting our troops and their families, who meet regularly and ally with the Purple Stars to accomplish the following:
- Maintain the Lancer Military Memorial Garden (located just off the main lobby for LHS)
- Honor our veterans on staff and in the community with a Veterans Day ceremony, cards, and gift baskets/bags
- Recognize Military Family Appreciation Month in November
- Send “care packages” to members of our Lancer family who are actively serving in the military
- Participate in national Purple-Up! Month , a nationwide campaign aimed at raising awareness of the challenges a military child faces
- Honor seniors entering military service/military academy/ROTC program with “Blue Star Bundles” (commemorative “care packages”) presented at the spring pep rally
- Conduct a Memorial Day Ceremony in the Lancer Military Memorial Garden
