Forget all the small clubs that are trying to encourage people to join their groups. The smallest groups may not be noticed as much but they can strive to encourage the bravest to step up and help support important causes.
Blue and Purple Star Lancer advisor, Elizabeth Juster encourages those looking for new opportunities to get involved in good causes and to come see what they are all about.
“If you are interested in doing all kinds of neat activities, to bond with other people, and support our troops and their families then come on in,” Juster said.
The Blue and Purple Star Lancers are a club that focus on supporting their troops, alumni that are currently serving, and students’ families that have family members who are currently serving. Anyone can be a Blue Star member, Blue Stars are people who have retired family, but are also open for everyone to join while the Purple Stars are only students that have family members actively serving.
Juster wants those who seek supporting their troops to make a stop by room 219.
“We know that lancers love their troops so this is a great way for them to show just that,” Juster said.
The “stars” are found carrying some big events at LHS especially April, the month of the military child.
“Everything in our memorial garden to things we do at our April pep rally makes it very fun,” Juster said.
The Blue and Purple Star Lancers focus on supporting their troops, and students at LHS that have family members who are currently serving in the armed forces. The “stars” try their best to provide support to those who have also graduated, and are now serving our country.
“We support not only students that have parents serving in the military right now, but we also support each other here at school,” Juster said. “As well as our alumni who have graduated and are now serving.”
The “stars” have no executive board, but that makes them “work better together.”
“We resisted having officers, but it makes us more of a group so we are able to do different things,” Juster said.
Just because the “stars” don’t have a set e- board, trying to support their troops is always their main focus.
“Each week as a group we go over our goals and what we have to do now,” Juster said. “We break up our tasks so we are able to move forward.”
Since the Blue and Purple Star Lancers are student based, they are in charge of how their weekly meetings flow, which help them “come together as a group” and “decide what is best for them.”
We plan through our website and our google classroom,” Juster said. “Weekly meetings really flow based on what we need to do, it has developed over years.”
The Blue and Purple Star Lancers have more events coming up, and are hoping to spark people’s interests by reaching out.
“We are small but mighty, and always welcome anyone who wants to join us at any point and time.” Juster said.
