The book Blue Moon by Tess Thompson is an amazing story. In the beginning of Blue Moon the story takes place in Oregon, with the main character Bliss Haywood. The thing about Bliss is that she’s a boss lady. She takes her work and sister very seriously and nothing else. She locked out any chance of friendships outside of her job. Then everything gets changed and her whole life gets unsettled. She then has an accident that seems to change her view on her entire world. This then leads her to another state to get away from her life in the city, which takes her to Idaho to visit her sister. While she’s there she is introduced to Ciaran. Every girl around is in love with him and she seems to catch his attention. However, Bliss notices more than just Ciarans looks, something dark inside him that drives Bliss to find out more. They were both opposed to the idea of them being together for several reasons, but they can’t help the growing feelings they have for each other. The ending takes a huge turn when Ciarans past catches up to him, which somehow drives him and bliss closer.
The big thing I learned about the characters and from the Blue Moon was that we only have one life and to try and make it the best we can. Ciaran makes it his point in life to live like there’s no tomorrow, to have no regrets. But he also has a chip on his shoulder, he has a deep fear. He’s never told anyone about this, until Bliss came along. And even though he has a major reason for that, I stand by his motto. Also the way Bliss changes up from being only work and no play to being completely free in her own life inspires me. She finds there’s more to life than just her job and this quote “My life spread before me like pages of an unread book. What had I done of importance? Who was I? To whom did I belong? Whom did I love?” – Pg 23. This is when she starts to realize she has no one. This changed her life drastically and led her to meeting Ciaran and finding friends and a family. I feel like when she said this it really spoke to me to make the most out of the life I was given. And also to live with no regrets like Ciaran. Overall there are so many good lessons and truth hidden in this book.
I would suggest this book to any reader who enjoys a romance and drama-based plot that also strings in a deep mystery and thrill. The author did a great job in joining the characters together nicely. As if they were all meant to be in the same story together. If you are also looking for an easy read but still have it being a good book, Blue Moon would be a great option. It’s not too long of a book with just about 250 pages. It only took me 4 to 5 days to finish reading it. Even though it’s not the longest book it’s filled with details and descriptions that make you feel like you’re the character in the story.
I felt like I couldn’t keep my hands off of this book once I picked it up, I had to keep reading. Blue Moon just got better and better as the story went on. When more of the characters were introduced the book just kept feeding into the perfect plot and how all the characters make sense together. That’s the good thing about this book, there are no boring or slow parts of it. The emotions of this book are very strong as well, like it’s clear what the author is trying to make you feel like.
Blue Moon isn’t just one book on its own, it is one of five books in its series. All of the books have great plots that connect just enough without repeating the same thing. The plot continuously builds up in each book, creating the Blue Mountain series. The whole main setting of all these books is Blue Mountain. It’s where the Lanigan family homes are in Idaho. Blue Moon takes place in Blue Mountain for most of the book. The Lanigan family is very rich and this is the family of Ciaran. All 5 of the books have tangled love stories, murder mysteries, and tons of drama. These books are all forms of each other without being the same. If you read Blue Moon, you would certainly have to read the rest too.
Tess Thompson, the author of Blue Moon, did have a background of how she came up with the ideas of the Blue Mountain series. This was Tess Thompson’s first series she wrote after her divorce. This influences most of the plot throughout the 5 books. All through the series she also added her own children’s dialogue as well. I noticed myself how her emotions during this hard time in her life could have triggered some of the characters’ roles and actions for the duration of the series. In conclusion, I thought Tess did a fantastic job with the Blue Mountain series and the Blue Moon book. I strongly enjoyed this book and would give it five stars. I hope you all do as well.
