The Londonderry School District is partnering with the New Hampshire Food Bank to collect items for area shelters. Each Londonderry school is designated to collect certain items that are appropriate depending on each school. The Community Service Club is no stranger to the N.H. Food Bank, as they often spend their time throughout the year volunteering while packing bags, and organizing food for those in need.
This year, LHS will be collecting Cereal Bars and Ziplock Bags until Feb. 7. All and any donations are appreciated by the Community Service Club. The donations can be brought to Ms. Giguere’s room (627), Mrs. Wakelin’s room (615), and the Main Office.
Junior Community Service Member, Lindsay LaBossiere believes it is important for the study body to help the club support a good cause.
“I think it is important for the student body to donate these items because as a community we want to help the people who are less fortunate,” LaBossiere said.
LaBossiere feels a sense of compassion when she knows that they are gathering materials for those who are in need.
“We want to help the people who are less fortunate where they don’t know when there next meal is, they don’t know if they have enough blankets or if they will be able to shower,” LaBossiere said.
LaBossiere and the rest of the Community Service Club express their gratitude to those who help them donate to the food bank.
“It will honestly make the club feel so good knowing the people are willing to take time out of there day to go out and buy something that small and donate it and know that it will go to good use,” LaBossier said. “People who really need it are so beyond thankful.”
LaBossiere expresses that this is one of the biggest fundraisers that the CSC is able to host, and she appreciates all of the little things that the study body and administration is able to donate.
“We will have a good feeling because something this small that we take for granted in everyday life means the world to somebody else,” LaBossiere said. “That honestly is enough for me that it is going somewhere good and I’m so grateful that people are willing to help out.”
LaBossier finds satisfaction is being involved in the Community Service Club because of the “feel good feeling” that she takes home after ever meeting and event as she finds the little things touching her heart.
“It helps me appreciate the small things and I already donate to shelters, and seeing how many bags we filled last year for people really warms the heart,” LaBossiere said. “Especially now when everyone needs that touch of love.”
