With Christmas right around the corner, the aroma of fresh baked cookies fill kitchens across the country as people anxiously prepare for holiday festivities. These quick and simple reindeer cookies take holiday baking to the next level, and are perfect for any upcoming holiday parties. A plate of these would make a delicious gift for your neighbors, or a fun decorating activity for your younger siblings.
Ingredients:
- 1 box Devil’s Food Cake Mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 C. oil
- Red and brown M&M’s
- Nilla Wafers
- White chocolate chips
- 1/4, C. Melted chocolate (dark or milk)
- Pretzels
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and lay parchment paper on some cookie trays.
- Mix cake mix, eggs, and oil together until a thick batter is created.
- Roll the batter into balls (approx. the size of a golf ball) and place on the cookie tray (I recommend covering your hands with flour to avoid sticky batter). Flatten each ball with a spoon.
- Bake for 7-9 minutes and let cool.
- Spread chocolate frosting evenly on each cookie.
- To assemble your reindeer, place a Nilla wafer on your frosted cookie and add pretzels for antlers. Wedge two white chocolate chips (flat side up) between the wafer and the pretzel to create eyeballs and a red or brown M&M for a nose. Melt milk or dark chocolate in the microwave or over a double boiler and use a toothpick to dot pupils on white chocolate chips to create reindeer eyes.
Yields: approx. 20 cookies
