Walking down the halls of LHS, it is hard to miss the bleach blonde mohawks that several students have recently adorned. But don’t worry, this style is not spring’s next big hair trend, but rather part of a hockey team tradition.
Each year, in honor of making it to playoffs, the hockey team cuts and styles their hair in a bold way for luck and for the sake of tradition. Usually the team does mullets, but since many of the players’ hair wasn’t long enough this season, they chose blonde mohawks instead.
“It’s a team tradition we do every year for playoffs,” senior caption Nick Donnelly said. “It’s great because it really brings the team together.”
The team’s recent win against Salem solidified their place in the playoffs, and they took their celebration to a barber shop.
“Hopefully the hair will give us good luck for the rest of the season,” senior captain Colby Austen said. “It will give us incentive to win.”
