Beating Pinkerton is the goal for every Londonderry sports team.
However, scoring against the Astros with six seconds left to win the game on their senior night–that’s another type of victory.
“Beating Pinkerton on their senior night was worth almost as much as a championship to me,” said junior midfielder Erika Tsetsilas.
And with that win on their heels, the girls’ lacrosse team is looking for a deep run in the playoffs this year.
Tsetsilas said the players on this team “are truly selfless both on and off the field,” which she hopes will help them win the championship.
“They are some of the best leaders in the school,” Tsetsilas said.
The offense was led by a powerhouse of seniors, including midfielders Gabbi Morris and Emily Davison, and attack Breda Holland and Dominique Breault.
On defense, senior Sarah Jackes, and juniors Sami Lecaroz and Faye Brown helped the team defensively to a 11-7 record in DI and the sixth spot in the playoffs.
“We are the underdogs in these playoffs,” Tsetsilas said. “No one is expecting us to beat Souhegan and then Bishop Guertin. But if there is anything on this team, there is perseverance.”

And persevere is what this team has done all year long and will continue to do when they step on the field at tonight’s playoff game against Souhegan.
“Teams like Souhegan aren’t used to playing from behind,” Tsetsilas said. “When they start losing, they don’t know how to get back up, and that’s how we’re gonna win.”
The girls’ lacrosse team takes on Souhegan today at 6 at Souhegan High School.
