Coming off of a 10-6-1 season and a Cinderella trip to the Final Four, the field hockey girls have raised their expectation for this season.
Seniors captains Olivia Palumbo, Sophia Poulin, and Val Shay are some of the key components to this year’s team.
The team only graduated three players last year, and have ten rising seniors on the team this season. Palumbo, a junior captain last season, believes the team has improved with age.
“We exceeded expectations and went to the Final Four with only three seniors,” Palumbo said. “So this year the team is even more determined and experienced.”
Other players to watch are juniors, Katie Meuse and Vanessa Magoon, who are stepping into huge roles in the midfield, and senior Danielle Ziv, who is the new and only varsity goalie.
“Hopefully we can gel and come together as a team and make our way back into the playoffs,” Palumbo said.
The girls tied Bishop Guertin 1-1 on Tuesday, and their next matchup is Friday at Timberlane.
