Girls cross country finished eighth in the Division I meet last season. This season, there is some uncertainty about which seven girls who will be running at the varsity level. Only two girls from last year’s team graduated, leaving five returning varsity runners, seniors Bella Ziolek and Kaitlyn Marchant, juniors Jill Doris and Kalin Gregoire, and sophomore Kaelyn Rourke.
“This team has a lot of potential for the upcoming season, especially with the new freshmen on the team,” said Gregoire.
Along with the returning runners, the team will have ten talented freshmen that will be competing for varsity spots. Some of the freshmen include Jasmine Brown and Caitlin Boufford. Both the freshmen and time commitment will be big factors in qualifying for the state meet.
“We are going to need to devote extra time to the sport and improve our communication skills between coaches and athletes,” Gregoire said.
The girls will have their first meet on Tuesday, September 6th, at Exeter.
